Tour Itinerary

1:45 pm – Check-in at Our Paracas Office
Please arrive at our office approximately 15 minutes before departure to complete check-in and receive the final instructions for the experience. Your guide will confirm the route, walking conditions and expected sunset time for the day.

2:00 pm – Departure to Paracas National Reserve
Board our vehicle and travel towards the Paracas National Reserve. During the drive, your guide will introduce the landscape and explain how the desert, cliffs and Pacific coastline shape this protected area.

2:20 pm – Red Beach
Begin with a scenic stop at Red Beach, known for its distinctive reddish shoreline and striking contrast with the surrounding desert and ocean. There will be time for photographs and a short explanation of the area.

2:45 pm – Isthmus Viewpoint
Continue to the Isthmus viewpoint, one of the reserve’s most impressive panoramic locations. Enjoy wide views across the desert peninsula, bays and Pacific coastline.

3:05 pm – Cathedral Viewpoint
Visit the Cathedral viewpoint, where dramatic coastal cliffs illustrate the geological forces that have shaped this part of Paracas. Your guide will provide time to enjoy the scenery before continuing.

3:25 pm – Lago Muerto
The next stop is Lago Muerto, a quieter and less-visited area of the reserve. Here, you can appreciate the peaceful desert surroundings before travelling to the starting point of the trek.

3:45 pm – Start of the Golden Shadow Trek at Playón
Arrive at Playón, where the walking section of the experience begins. Follow your local guide along desert trails towards Mendieta Beach, crossing open landscapes and elevated coastal terrain.

The walk is designed as a soft-adventure trek, allowing time to enjoy the scenery, take photographs and appreciate the changing colours of the desert as the afternoon light becomes warmer.

5:00 pm – Mendieta Beach & Coastal Cliffs
Reach the Mendieta area and continue towards the surrounding coastal cliffs, where you can enjoy some of the most atmospheric views of the experience. The elevated position provides an excellent setting to watch the sunlight change across the desert and Pacific Ocean.

Sunset – Golden Shadow Experience
As the sun begins to set, the cliffs and desert landscape take on warm golden and orange tones. Your guide will select a suitable viewpoint according to local conditions so you can enjoy the sunset safely and comfortably.

After Sunset – Return to Paracas
Once the sunset has finished, walk back to the agreed vehicle meeting point and board the transport for the return journey to Paracas.

Approximately 6:00–6:30 pm – Arrival in Paracas
The experience concludes at our office in Paracas. The exact return time may vary slightly depending on the seasonal sunset time, walking pace and local conditions.

Important Information

  • Meeting Time: Please arrive at our Paracas office 15 minutes before the scheduled departure for check-in and final instructions.
  • Departure Time: The tour normally departs at 2:00 pm, although the exact timing may be adjusted slightly according to the season and expected sunset time.
  • Walking Experience: This tour includes a guided trek from Playón to Mendieta across desert and coastal terrain. A reasonable level of mobility is recommended.
  • Tour Duration: The complete experience lasts approximately 4–4.5 hours, depending on walking pace, sunset time and local conditions.
  • Entrance Included: Admission to the Paracas National Reserve is included in the tour price.
  • Scenic Stops: Before the trek, the route normally includes Red Beach, Isthmus, Cathedral and Lago Muerto.
  • Sunset Conditions: The exact sunset viewpoint may vary depending on weather, wind, visibility and safety conditions on the day.
  • What to Bring: Comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, a light jacket and clothing suitable for cooler temperatures after sunset are recommended.
  • Water: Bottled water is included, but guests may wish to bring additional water, particularly during warmer months.
  • Weather & Wind: Paracas can experience strong winds and rapidly changing coastal conditions. The route or walking section may be modified if necessary for safety.
  • Photography: The experience offers excellent photography opportunities during the late afternoon and golden hour. We recommend bringing a fully charged phone or camera.
  • Bus Connections & Other Activities: If you have a bus departure, transfer or another activity after the tour, please inform us in advance so we can advise whether the timing is suitable.
  • Following the Guide: Guests must remain with the group and follow the guide’s instructions throughout the trek, particularly near cliffs and exposed coastal areas.

Cancellation Policy

  • Free Cancellation: Cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure to receive a full refund.
  • Late Cancellations: Cancellations made less than 24 hours before departure are non-refundable.
  • No-Shows: Guests who do not arrive at the meeting point by the confirmed check-in time are considered a no-show and are not eligible for a refund.
  • Late Arrival: Significant delays may result in a shortened experience or missed departure. In such cases, refunds may not be available.
  • Weather & Safety Conditions: If the trek cannot operate safely due to strong winds, poor visibility, unsafe trail conditions or instructions from the Paracas National Reserve authorities, we will offer the option to reschedule, adjust the route or provide a refund, where applicable.
  • Sunset & Route Changes: The exact sunset viewpoint and walking route may vary according to weather, seasonal sunset times and local conditions. Minor route adjustments do not normally qualify for a refund.
  • Personal Decisions During the Trek: If a guest chooses not to continue the walking section after the tour has started, any unused portion of the experience is non-refundable.
  • Onward Connections: Guests with bus departures, transfers or other independently booked activities after the tour should inform us in advance. We will advise on timing, but missed onward services caused by personal delays are not refundable.
