Tour Itinerary
3:40 pm – Check-in at Our Huacachina Office
Please arrive at our office in Huacachina 20 minutes before departure to complete check-in and receive the final instructions for the experience. We recommend arriving on time, as this is a shared service and the group departs together.
3:50 pm – Walk to the Desert Entrance
From the office, we will walk towards the official access gate to the Huacachina desert. At the entrance, guests will stop briefly to pay the local desert entrance fee, which is not included in the tour price.
4:00 pm – Walk to the Dune Buggy & Departure
After entering the desert area, continue on foot across the sand to reach the dune buggy meeting point. Board a shared dune buggy with approximately 8–10 seats, driven by an experienced local driver, and begin the adventure across the dunes.
4:10 pm – Dune Buggy Adventure
Enjoy an exciting ride through the vast dunes surrounding Huacachina, with steep climbs, fast descents and panoramic views over the Ica desert. The route combines adrenaline with scenic stops, allowing time to appreciate and photograph the surrounding landscape.
4:40 pm – Sandboarding Experience
Stop at selected dunes to try sandboarding using beginner boards, which are included in the tour. Your driver will indicate the safest areas and explain the basic technique before each descent.
The number of sandboarding runs possible depends on the pace and physical ability of each guest, as participants normally need to walk back up the dunes between descents. Guests who climb more quickly may have the opportunity to complete additional runs during the available time.
Professional Sandboarding Equipment
The standard experience includes beginner sandboards suitable for recreational use. Guests wishing to use professional sandboarding equipment should request this in advance. Professional boards are subject to availability and involve an additional cost.
5:20 pm – Continue the Desert Route
After sandboarding, continue exploring the dunes by buggy, with additional scenic sections and opportunities to enjoy the desert landscape as the afternoon light changes.
6:00 pm – Return to Huacachina
Return to the buggy meeting point and walk back towards Huacachina, where the experience concludes at approximately 6:00 pm.
The complete service lasts approximately 2 hours, including the dune buggy ride, sandboarding and scheduled scenic stops.

Professional Sandboard Note
Professional sandboards must be reserved in advance and are subject to availability. The upgrade costs S/50 per person and may be limited depending on the number of professional boards available for the selected departure.

- Adventure Experience: The buggy ride includes steep climbs, fast descents and uneven desert terrain. The level of intensity may vary depending on route conditions and the driver’s judgement.
- Not Suitable for Back Problems: This tour is not recommended for guests with back, neck or spinal problems, or for anyone who may be affected by sudden movements, bumps or steep dune descents.
- Physical Requirements: Sandboarding involves walking on soft sand and climbing dunes. The number of runs possible depends on each guest’s fitness level and pace.
- Beginner Sandboards: Standard beginner sandboards are included and are suitable for recreational use.
- Professional Sandboards: Professional equipment must be reserved in advance, costs S/50 per person, and is subject to limited availability.
- What to Bring: We recommend comfortable clothing, closed footwear, sunglasses, sunscreen, drinking water and a light jacket for the late afternoon.
- Weather & Desert Conditions: The route and activity sequence may be adjusted due to wind, visibility, dune conditions or operational requirements.
- Personal Belongings: Secure loose items before the ride, as strong movement and wind can cause phones, cameras or other belongings to fall during the buggy experience.
